The vast majority of the body work was handled by an experienced bodywork contractor we were using at the time. Jim cleaned the shell top and bottom. He welded in a new floor patch panel and sanded the body down. I cut out the lower rusted areas in the front fenders and welded the new patch panels. Jim sanded the body and all of the loose hinged panels. He smoothed out all of the dings and small dents and sprayed PPG primer surfacer. He fogged the primer with light ghost coats of contrasting paint and "color sanded" the primer till the body and panels were perfect.
I sprayed PPG Citron Gold factory match paint on the body and hinged panels while still loose. Once the PPG clear cured long enough the, glass, drive train, the doors, fenders, rear deck lid, and hood were reinstalled. The entire body was then wet sanded and buffed to a high gloss finish.
